I was not even defending the person nor agreeing with her perception and her choices. I wanted us to understand her better.

I was sharing my understanding of a person’s behavior and motives, which may shed more light for you.

I was hoping to help you understand some details that you might not have known about.

I was hoping we could both understand her to know better how to deal with her or help her if we could.

But you did not even allow me to finish.
I was able to tell only about 30% of the story when you started raising your voice to make your point.
No longer listening,
No longer allowing me to continue.

You immediately stated your judgment.
I’m not excusing anyone’s behavior and choices. I was just trying to understand deeper, deeper than emotions and judgment.

Now I remembered what I just told myself a couple of hours before we had this supposed conversation-turned-argument: I may not be good at retelling other people’s POVs; I am not even good at retelling stories that I’ve read from a book or watched from a movie.
Maybe I should just stick to that.

Maybe I shouldn’t have even tried to show you a different angle of someone’s story.
Mali ko rin. Nakalimutan ko,
Oo nga pala. Someone had already told me, time and again, that you don’t know how to listen; you don’t even care enough to understand. Or at least, that’s what your turning-everything-into-an-argument behavior makes us feel.

Oo nga. I shouldn’t have tried to explain anything.
It’s impossible to help you understand something, especially when you already have a preconceived notion.

So, CONGRATULATIONS!
No one can and will ever ‘win’ against you.
I wasn’t even trying to.
I just hope I could shed some light.

But you probably don’t want any light since you solidly believe you are already The light.

At the end, you may be right, and I may be wrong.
But that’s not even the point because again, I was not trying to be right or to prove my theory to be better.

But don’t worry.
I’ll let you be with what you believe in.

Siguro, part of practicing humility na rin for me is to be willing to discern what is needed at the moment–to speak or to be silent? To engage or not? And most especially, to see if this this a conversation or an argument?

Sorry naman, I took the bait. Silly me. Now I got a new lesson learned the painful way.

I just thought you are better now than before.
Mali ako. Hindi pa rin pala.
Maybe just a bit.
A tiny bit.

Hands up na ako.
Divine Intevention na lang siguro ang pag-asa.
