You now take your time to think for yourself instead of immediately agreeing and taking the other person’s views;
You now say “No” sometimes instead of automatically saying “Yes!” to every request;
You now examine different angles and consider several factors before making a decision instead of being impulsive and of feeling pressured to decide in a snap;
You now express your opinions and preferences instead of simply going with the flow;
You now call out a certain offensive or disrespectful behavior instead of pretending like everything is okay…
And suddenly,
“You are difficult!”,
“You’ve changed!”,
“Hindi na ikaw yung dating kilala ko..”,
“Ang tigas na ng ulo mo ah?”
“Ang sama mo na!”

Wow. It turns out, they just like you when you were easy, okay-with-everything kind of person.
And when you started setting boundaries, now, you’re the ‘bad guy’.
Some people resist and react ‘violently’ kapag may nababago sa nakasanayan na, lalo na kapag naging masyado nang comfortable.
Don’t let that stop you, though, from becoming..
…becoming someone they may no longer recognize and would no longer patronize..
As long as you are growing to become your most authentic version, go ahead.
